What is Head-Quarters USA?

Head-Quarters began in 1969 with Doug Coffey and a vision. Since then, the demand for Doug's special blend of high performance and dependibility has been overwhelming. Head-Quarters USA was established in order to better serve the needs of retail customers in the US. Nothing else has changed...same great products by the same great company. Welcome to Head-Quarters USA.

The Story
Having built a number of Bagger motors over the years, both for my personal bikes and those of friends, I had a good idea of what I wanted when I called HQ and had my first conversation with Doug. I had a list of things that I knew I wanted and a few things I did not want. He took the time to listen to what I was after and my personal criteria. My list included things like:

• Excellent low-end torque
• Easy to start
• Reliability
• Ideally, a compression ratio not exceeding 10:1
• Street Friendly
• NO PINGING
• Tolerance for marginal fuel

There were probably a few others, but you get the gist… I also proposed some components that I “thought I would need”. After I finished, Doug proceeded to explain his perception of what I had said and what he felt it would take to achieve my goal(s). Interestingly, he also explained that I may not actually “need” some of the things I thought I needed and why that was the case. I was very impressed by his (painfully obvious) wealth of knowledge and experience, but his candor and honesty just floored me. By the time I hung up at the end of that call, I knew where my next build was coming from!

Upon completion of my build, I simply executed a ring seating exercise and set out to get it tuned. As far as the results… All I can say is “WOW!”. It is everything Doug promised and then some. The bike runs better than any Bagger I have EVER ridden and has power available anywhere / anytime. It is so much fun to ride, that I have to really be careful not to set myself up for “conversations with law enforcement”. The only “problem” I have is that the front wheel likes to ride somewhere other than on the ground and I am afraid I may need to find some heavy duty fork seals….. Got any of them, Doug?

With regard to performance Harley products, service, and information…. That was the most important call I ever made. I feel fortunate to have crossed paths with the folks at Head-Quarters (Doug, Jo, Kelly), as it has changed my perception of what “Performance Harley” actually means!

Thank you all…. Doug, Jo, Kelly!!!!
