If you have a 1999 thru ‘06 model, you will need to purchase a crankshaft assembly from a specialist like Dark Horse or your HD dealer. All years of the Twin Cam motors will require case boring to accept the larger bore cylinders. Instructions are supplied with the cylinders and it is very basic machining for anyone with a milling machine, angle plate and boring head.
The forged pistons used in our kits are a Head Quarters exclusive featuring a dish in the tops to accommodate the use of stock heads and permit us to create compression ratios varying from 10.5 to 11.0:1 depending on needs.
The increased stroke provides better mechanical advantage through rod leverage and the results are higher torque figures at a lower RPM. With stock bore carb or throttle body, 2,000 RPM cruising is possible with plenty of power on tap through the whole mid-range. If you want that 454 big block in a Camaro feeling when you turn the throttle, this is the way to go.
Kit comes complete with Head-Quarters HVP ported heads, new cylinders, forged pistons custom fit to the cylinders, and MLS head gaskets. Price includes all parts and labor. The above power expectations reflect the use of stock carbs or throttle bodies and good 2 into 1 pipes. Results may vary depending on your exhaust selection. Larger carbs and throttle bodies as well as 2-2 exhaust will increase HP and decrease torque. Larger fuel injectors may be required to maximize horsepower potential. Price assumes your parts are in good rebuildable condition.

Recommended Decompression Valves
DESCRIPTION: ADD DECOMPRESSION VALVES
PART NUMBER: +CR Includes two valves and installation. Ours are a little longer than most so there is more threads for a better grip and less chance of pulling one out from over-tightening. Use of decompression valves can extend the life of your battery, starting system, starter ring gear and starter clutch. To prevent hard starts, it's recommended to have these installed on this build.

Typically, factory chain tensiors should last around 40,000 miles but some need replacing earlier than 20,000. Factory chain systems perform quite well with Head-Quarters cams because of the cam lobe profile. If you replace the tensioners with this build and polish the outer edge of the chain to remove burrs, then you probably won't have to change your tensioners again.
DESCRIPTION: CAM GEAR SET and INSTALL KIT

This cam gear drive set and install kit is used with all of our TC gear driven cams. Must be purchased separately. Eliminates the use of stock chains, tensioners and springs. Prevents chain guard wear and failure. More accurate cam timing. Allows one to sleep at night not worrying about tensioner wear limits. Don't buy just any cam gear set...many brands, under the same label, use both domestic and overseas manufacturing which vary greatly in quality. These are of the best quality available and manufactured in the US.

DESCRIPTION: TWIN CAM EASY INSTALL
PART NUMBER: HQ-4055 Adjustable pushrods are necessary for this type of build. These specific pushrods allow installation without disassembling rocker boxes or cylinder heads should you decide to make a cam change later on.

PART NUMBER: HQ-4050 Adjustable pushrods are necessary for this type of build. These pushrods allow easy adjustment but require disassembling of the rocker boxes or cylinder heads for removal.
DESCRIPTION: TWIN CAM PUSHROD COVER CONVERSION KIT
PART NUMBER: HQ-4075 This kit replaces top cover clips and lower covers so you have more room to make adjustments. Stock cover kits allow less than 1" clearance which can make for a tight fit when using 3 wrenches to properly adjust your pushrods.
Head-Quarters Lifters for Twin Cam

PART NUMBER: HQ-4225-04 For those that demand the best! Through design and extensive development by HQ, these lifters are manufactured to exacting standards. Each lifter is tested for bleed down and matched as a set of four. As RPMs, temperature, and cam size increase, lifters can bleed down causing lash in the pushrod. Not only do the Black Ops bleed down slow, but the recovery rate is lightning fast offering quieter valvetrains and more accurate cam timing/lift. Due to extended manufacturing time and high demand, these are available in limited quantities.

PART NUMBER: HQ-4200-04 Our own Head Quarters brand lifters are made to the highest standards by the top automotive manufacturer in the industry. This means they have a slow bleed down rate and will be quieter in operation. It is not absolutely necessary to replace your stock lifters in a motor with less than 40,000 miles however, it is recommended to install new lifters anytime a new cam is installed.
